What are the best Bibs?

My DD is now 18 months old. I can't believe how quickly and, at the same time, how slowly the time has gone. She is finally starting to eat really food. Most kids start eating food around 6 months but my DD refused to even try until 12 months. Since then, though, the majority of the foods that go in her mouth come right back out again. Thus it is important to have the best types of bibs on hand to make sure we don't go through 5 different outfits a day and have to do a load of baby clothes every night.
We started off by using the fabric bibs. I figured those where the best because that's the kind I had been given by friends and family at my baby shower.  And, heck, I'm a new Mom how was I supposed to know any better. Well now I do know better. Fabric bibs are no longer my go to. They seem to just absorb all the food that gets on them and no matter how many times you wash them the smell lingers. And they stains are resilient. By 12 months of age every bib we had was covered in stains and I no longer wanted to get them anywhere near my DD.
Enter a better way. I was over at my sisters house and she was feeding her young son. He was making a mess as expected but he was wearing a plastic baby bib. It made the process so much simpler. It had a pocket at the bottom to catch any food that fell from his mouth and then he could scoop it back up and eat it again so nothing was wasted. And then when he was done all that needed to be done was to take the bib off and rinse it in the sink and it was ready to be used again. A couple times a week you can throw the bib right in the dishwasher to give it a thorough cleaning and that's it. So simple. And if there is one thing to say about parenting the simpler the better. And that is the only bib my sister has and will ever need.

I got one for my self and couldn't be happier with the result. No more needing 20 different fabric bibs so that I can have one for each meal and enough to last till the next wash cycle. I know have 2 of the silicone bibs ( one as a back up just in case) and I love them.
There are some other water-proof bibs out there that have a little more give to them but I tried them out and they still have a tendency to stain more and need to be replaced more often. It is totally a preference thing and I completely understand that. But for me I'm sticking with the waterproof, durable, easy clean up of the Plastic bib
P.S. also try this to-go bib from Bazzle baby! Good Luck!

Welcome!

Welcome! I’ll make this short. I’m a new Mom, but everyone seems to know that by just looking at me. There are literally thousands of books out there about parenting and I’ve read a my fair share.  People mostly are just trying to help. But after the 5th or 6th book I realized something. You will know the best thing to do for your kid because no one knows your kid better then you. Whether it’s breast or bottle; sleep training or rocking your kid to bed every night like I do. Trust yourself and trust that your kid will show you what is going to work for them. I’d love to offer tips and things that I have found worked for me on here for you other new Mom’s! I just want to share my experience and hopefully it can help in some way.
